Question

Just putting out a question...does any one actually read these posts? Feels kind of futile at this point.

Photo Sharing

This week's assignment didn't do much for me. There were a few good photos, but lots and lots of really bad photos to wade through. Personally if I wanted to share photos online with friends I wouldn't use Picasa.What I would like to do is put my own photos into a blog. That would have been a more valuable exercise for me.

For this assignment I chose a picture of a wave. The tags were beach, ocean,waves.

I don't think I will continue to use this application, but will find out how to put my photos into a blog. I would like to take photos of my Art and talk about them in a blog format.

All a Twitter

Well this has been a delightful assignment for me.Twitter was one of those things I couldn't get my head around. Why would I need another means of communication, I asked myself. Life is complicated enough I thought.So, I signed up any way and have been thoroughly enjoying it.

I have really enjoyed following the ones I chose and have learned some valuable new things along the way. For example, my membership to the AGO can be used at the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo. Sounds like an excuse for a road trip to see more wonderful art!This is always good to get my creative juices flowing.

I don't have any concerns about social networking at this point, realizing that we get to decide who can view our postings. More, I feel that no one will hear me if I tweet, as I don't have any followers, yet. If I tweet will anyone hear me? lol

Yes, I will definitely continue to use Twitter after the Betty Blogger program!

Task #3 Tagging

Ok, Library Lady...my apologies...I have been a little tardy in my postings. I wish I had some exciting excuse ...like a vacation...up north, canoeing sounds great...but no. I have been busy painting and have to admit I get really challenged by technology. However, I am still here and have found youtube to be valuable for such ridiculous questions like,how do I make a new posting??? lol lol lol Really?

I did tag each website, however I can not find the tags now when I go back to the bookmark. This has been a theme. I do what is requested and then can't get back in access things later...deep breath... I do have a sense of humour though!

I have been doing the research weekly, just not the blog.If I had sent this out the week that it was assigned I would have said that I probably wouldn't use Diigo very often, as I already bookmark. However, I have used it several times since, preferring it to my other system.

Week 2 Streaming

I thoroughly enjoyed my YouTube experience and have found that if I am not careful I can get carried away, spending far too much time viewing them.lol When you view one video, there are always similar ones suggested on the right hand side that can take you to videos you might not have seen otherwise.

I believe streaming has become popular because of the combination of visual images, sound and written or spoken words.YouTube videos can inspire and provide insight, to bring a point of view across in a way that is much more dynamic than the written word alone.My personal choice in videos are ones that are inspirational and uplifting.Ones that have a positive message, as traditional media sources tend to focus so much on negativity and fear.This video reminds me that I get to choose what I believe in.

As an artist, I am very visual, and love stunning photography. I am doing a series of paintings this summer based on the elements - my elemental journey.I use photos as resources for my work and this assignment has reminded me that YouTube is another wonderful place to find photography. Yes, I will continue to use YouTube. There are so many different types and applications.

Until signing up for the Betty Blogger course I had never heard of the term Web 2.0 and had to Google the term. I am certainly aware of Facebook through my children and really saw it as a means for people to keep in touch. It wasn't until the Egyptian Revolution in January of this year that I had a huge AHA moment, awakening to the impact that social media can have in our lives.

I have always been a journaler- but old school- pen and paper. I will admit that technology intimidates me and have decided to face my fears and forge ahead. lol  The idea of a blog is actually very exciting as I have so much that I want to share!
